“Time is a new currency, and successful freelancers manage, save, and spend it wisely,” Sara Horowitz penned in her article for Fast Company “How Freelancers Are Redefining Success To Be About Value, Not Wealth.”
With independent workers making up more than 1/3 of the American workforce (over 42 million people), Horowitz believes it’s the freelancers that are actually leading the way in our new definition of success, which is less about wealth and more about the value of time, community, and well-being.
It’s all about work-life balance.
So how exactly does she think freelancers leads a richer life than their 9-to-5 partner?
When you can control your own time, you can control your own well-being.
Managing your own time is a more practical and efficient use of resources.
Freelancers are healthier socially, because they’re continually building up their freelance work community.
They define success as being healthy enough--physically and mentally--to enjoy life.
This concept works well with a freelancer’s clients as well, as the idea of killing time until the clock strikes 5:00 becomes obsolete.
It’s an interesting read for sure.
And you know WE’VE always been freelancing fans, but we’d like to know YOUR thoughts.
